Old Hickory

Is anything more exciting than giving new life to a legend? For that is what R. S. Lipman Company did in 2011 when they bought the ‘Old Hickory’ brand and revived the famous spirit after it had laid dormant for 24 years. The brand was born in 1868, years before electric lights and the first automobile, in Fayette County, Kentucky.

‘Old Hickory’ refers to the spirit, strength and resilience of the American people; it also recalls the 7th US President, Andrew Jackson, known as ‘Old Hickory’ who distilled his own whiskey in Tennessee. Recognizing the rich legacy of the brand, Tennessean Robert Lipman worked closely with Master Blender, Pam Soule, to devise whiskeys that are worthy of that heritage. Today, distillation takes place at the historical Seagram’s facility in Lawrenceburg, Indiana, where water used for distilling and proofing is drawn from deep glacial aquifers, dating back more than a million years.

We offer the Old Hickory White Label Straight Bourbon at 86 proof, the ‘Perfect Proof’ ™ preferred historically by American whiskey distillers, as well as two award-winning ‘Hermitage Reserve’ Barrel Proof Whiskeys, having a recipe of 99% corn and 1% malted barley and aged in bourbon barrels for 10 and 15 years.
