Ironroot Republic Distilling

When brothers Robert and Jonathan Likarish decided to jettison their early careers as, respectively, a lawyer and a biomedical engineer to build a distillery business, they accepted that yet more years of training lay ahead. That steadfast commitment to a new path is imbued in the quality of every bottle from the Ironroot distillery.

It’s not obvious that the name, ‘Ironroot Republic’, could be associated with carefully crafted beverages, unless you are familiar with renowned viticulturist Thomas Volney Munson’s work in developing a robust ‘iron’ grape rootstock in Denison, Texas. It was used to save from destruction the disease-ridden vineyards of France in the late 19th century.

The Likarish brothers have adopted that Munson connection into their brand and techniques, and have established themselves in Denison. After enlisting their mother, Marcia, to manage the business, she became known as the ‘Mother of Texas Whiskey’. Common characteristics extend beyond the family into each Ironroot expression; they are instantly recognizable. A combination of keeping the entire production process on site using only local non-GMO corn with dedication to detail ensures that, like the brand itself, every sip is distinctive and memorable.
